ONTARIO PLACE PUBLIC REALM

The Ontario Place Park Master Plan seeks to create a spectacular and inclusive destination by restoring and enhancing the iconic character of Ontario Place. The plan covers approximately 345,000 m² of open space. Since its opening in 1971, Ontario Place has evolved to reflect the province’s heritage, diversity, and future potential.

As part of the province’s proposed redevelopment initiative, Ontario Place is once again being reimagined as a place that reflects Ontario’s historical and natural features, celebrates its diversity and multiculturalism, and honours the rich traditions, cultures, and heritage of regional Indigenous peoples.

The proposed redevelopment is intended to reinvigorate, enhance, and bring Ontario Place up to modern standards. It will reflect and respect its past through conservation, retention, and the thoughtful integration of heritage features, allowing its original design intent to evolve.

The landscape concept will be visionary, positioning Ontario Place as a distinct destination that attracts tourists and business interests at both national and international levels. Multilayered programming and a coherent public realm will significantly enhance the economic viability of this underutilized stretch of lakefront while expanding its potential uses for a diverse audience.

Ontario Place presents a unique opportunity to create a global destination for builders, artists, and thinkers—an environment where creativity can be fostered, grow, and flourish. LANDinc envisions a future path for humanity in which virtuous cycles support the circular economies of water, land, and people.

The design of this iconic place incorporates goals and objectives for sustainable development, including energy, accessibility, climate resilience, water management, and ecological systems. The revitalization of this important asset will build upon the defining qualities of Ontario Place that have shaped its legacy throughout history.
