Description:
The Metro Skate Park is located within Bonsor Park near Metrotown in the City
of Burnaby. The site is situated between two Skytrain (rapid transit) stations
and near an existing recreation facility. The park is divided into three distinct
zones, employing a design that stems from the results of several youth workshops held in
the community surrounding the park. There is a beginner zone, a bowl zone, and
a “real” street
zone. Site elements such as shade structures, drinking fountains, pathways and
a playground were included to provide “hangout” locations
for non-park users to watch the skaters. |
